Since I got my DSLR, lightning has been high on my list of types of shots I want to get. But For the years I have had it, one thing or another has kept that from happening. Be it no visible bolts, too few, too sporadic to point the camera properly, perfect storm but no camera. You name it one thing or another has kept me from getting the shot.

But, tonight that all changed. I was sitting outside watching this storm come in, and I start seeing visible lightning. I run in to get my camera, get outside, and start getting everything set up. Right as I am about to take a test shot to test my settings, this great barrage of lightning lights up the sky. I hit the button just in time to get it.

The other night we had the most Epic fog I've ever seen around here, and of course I had to go out to take photos. It was almost a thick mist not fog, so I was constantly cleaning the lens and trying to keep my camera and myself from becoming drenched.

This first photo is my favorite; I had stopped to try and get a photo of those big ring lights over the highway, and ended up seeing this tree right beside where I parked. The light behind it with the fog, was just so perfect.

I don't know how long now I have been trying to capture a great shot of a butterfly. I just can never get it, much like photos of lightning, it alluded me. Kinda bad considering there is not much technically challenging about it.

I finally got one I am very happy with, and the edit on the colors at the end, just made me fall in love with the photo.

Corey's Critique-A-Thon: Round 2

It's back once again ladies, gentlemen, and various other forms of life currently inhabiting the world wide web. Once again I will be accepting submissions for the next few days to dole out critique to whoever asks for it, on one photo. And yes, once again this is for photography only.

I am not a master behind the camera by any means, but I have spent years learning the technical side of photography, the part that is less subjective than the artistic taste behind the photos you capture. I love sharing this bit of know-how, and what better way than giving out critiques? I know how awesome it is to have someone really take the time to look over your work. And yes I am writing this as long as I can, just cause... well... I can

Now all you need to do is read these 6 simple rules, follow them, and I will leave critique on One, Uno, Ichi, Un, Satu, of your photographs. Yes, this is for photography only; I don't have the skill or experience IMO to leave it on any other type of art.

READ THESE RULES!!

This isn't just leaving a quick comment; I will spend time picking through the photo, and go over everything from lighting, composition, color or use of black and white, exposure, focus, depth of field, all the way to just personal opinions on how the photo came out. So there are a few rules you need to follow to get me to help you out in this!!

1.) The thumbnail you submit MUST be a photograph!
2.) You can post as many thumbnails as you like, but I will pick which one at my discretion.
3.) If you leave a critique on another person who posted here, I will critique at least one more of yours and probably +Watch you for being awesome.
4.) You must start your post with the phrase for this week to show your paying attention. This weeks phrase "The greater good...". Yes, second time in a row its from Hot Fuzz, sue me
5.) ...........
6.) PROFIT!!

DEADLINE!!!!

Like before there is a deadline on this. I will only be doing a few of the submissions the next two days, and once again I will be busting out most of the critiques this Saturday and Sunday.

Deadline: 11:59pm CST, Sunday April 1st

And that's it!! As you notice, you don't really have to do anything to get some love on your work, no looking at my crap or nothing. Not even my usual "You have to go show love to someone else first" stipulation, but as always, you show some love to others, it gets you more from me in return.
